December 2020 Update
It's been almost a year since Chapter 1 came out, and I'd like to thank everyone for the response that we've had so far.
We're busily working on Chapter2. I'm not really a fan of spoilers so I have deliberately been avoiding talking too much about it, but I'm hoping that you'll forgive me when it comes out.
2020 was a odd year or me, beyond the obvious. After 8 years at my prior company, which was a relatively small multinational (as ridiculous as that sounds) I took up a position in a much larger company in search of fame and riches (there's a bit more to it than that). But since we haven't been able to be in the office enough, I haven't really been able to understand the norms of the culture etc. A lot of that has had to be gleaned over Webex.
Also, being at home more means that the kids are a little more demanding on my time. I used to be away from home 50% of the time, and I used a lot of that travel or "undisturbed" time for creative output. Since that has dropped to 0, I feel like I haven't done as much as I could have this year.
Lastly, the major "candlestick" markers throughout my year are gone. I used to measure time between trade shows and Comiket, which allowed me to know the date of any day in the year out to about 6 months. It also set natural deadlines; for example we pushed hard (and almost hit) the deadline of the 2019 Winter Comiket as a release for Chapter 1. Winter Komiket this year seemed like a logical choice for Chapter 2, but now that it's not there I don't think that we're going to make that date.
However, the good news is this: the sound effects are almost done. There have been a lot of late nights and random road trips on the weekend to record a particular foley sound. In chapter 2 my kids and I will again bless your eardrums, as well as some new special guests. The video effects are being considered as an integral part of the art, and not something that I did in my "spare" time because I thought it would be cool. And I've learned a lot more about the Ren'Py engine than I thought was possible. I might even understand the basics of Python (as someone who learned to code in 2001, this is an achievement).
The next Komiket is in May, and whilst that's not as soon as I had hoped, it does also make for a realistic launch date for Chapter 2.
Also, if you're looking for things like a Soundtrack, you can download everything from our Pateron. We'll do a DLC version of it here later, but the Pateron version is all high-res WAV. I'm also making a couple of videos to explain how I'm doing some of the Chapter 2 effects; however my PC doesn't seem to like capturing the screen and doing anything else at the same time, so I'm saving up for a streaming or recording deck for that. NotImportant has also done some fantastic art tutorials there as well.
Anyway, I'm now going to cross-post this everywhere. I only wanted people to know that we're not dead, and that in the next few days I will have completed the sound effects and then have the labourious task of going through and fixing all my spelling errors in the commands in-game (which only show up when you trigger the effect).
Have a great day.

I just found out about your work a few days ago and really enjoyed Chapter 1!
I did notice a few typos; if you want a proofreader for subsequent chapters, I'd gladly help you in exchange for early access. ;)
Sure, nothing is ever completely bug-free. Although it is Australian English so there may be that.
Email us at lucid.akumu@gmail.com and we can talk.
Cheers!
