Penrith is a small town on the outskirts of Sydney; a sleepy town where most high school residents can only think of leaving. At least, that is what is on the mind of Doug Lovett. Only a few months away from the end of high school, he firmly has university on his mind. One night, he decides to blow off steam at a friend's house.

Unbeknownst to Doug, a silent threat is lurking in the shadows; an ancient being stalks the streets of Penrith.

Unprovoked, it poses little threat, but something has caused this creature to stir, and Doug will find that escaping his home town may not be as straightforward as he has been lead to believe.

This is the final release of Histora, and includes all Chapters.

Hi all.

A note to say that this was a bit of a soft release. We had to make things public for Comiket, but I didn't want to push too hard as yet.

There are a bunch of minor tweaks and we will push an update late September.

I'm having a bug where the game is a black screen, and occasionally flickers the menu. Any ideas what could be causing that?

Can you let me know which OS you are trying, and if it happens at a particular time?

Thanks

I've got Windows 11, and I'm using the Windows version, and it's not really a time thing. Just as soon as the game starts, it's a black screen, whether I put it full screen or not. I can hear the audio, and I think I can click stuff, but other than some occasional flickers of it being visible, I can't see anything. So it seems like the game itself works, just some display issue maybe

Ok that is odd. I haven't seen that in my Win11 install and neither have play testers. I ask because we used to have a combined Linux/Windows package but there were some things that broke in Linux.

I did find this on Renpy

You can try holding Shift when loading the game or pressing Shift-G once loaded.

I hope that helps.

Apologies for the late reply, I got it fixed. Had to change renderer from automatically choose to "Force ANGLE2 Renderer". Thanks for the help

Thank you soooooooo much for the sequel! Finally!

I'll have to finish one or two other games first but only to focus on yours then all the more.

If  this is the final release of Historia, why is it listed as 'In development' ?

Because I don't know how to Itch.

I'll fix that

Visual novels that invite you in their world without telling you all of it are the kind I enjoy the most. It becomes a game in itself to piece out the unseen and it gives you some aftertime thinking, some parts still have me wondering. The presentation is quite great and some visuals are just breathtaking, some unique things were done. The cultural backdrop was interesting and made me learn some things.

Despite setbacks, I'm glad the game could reach its final version and was not erased from history.

So, it has been a minute.
Historia took many hits over Covid and the years following. Without the usual Dev sob story, it was rough for practically everyone on the dev team.

But, we managed to get through to it due to the support of everyone, and I want to thank you for the people that stuck with us the whole time.

As with the previous chapters, we have put a lot of time into checking all the mechanics, so I am hoping that nothing has slipped through. As with previous chapters though, it's always possible that things were intended to be that way.

Happy hunting!
